Get to Know Amazake

Amazake is a traditional sweet rice-based drink enjoyed by Japanese people since the Nara period. Rich in nutrients such as vitamins, dietary fiber, and glucose, it is often referred to as a “drinkable IV drip” or a “drinkable beauty serum.”
There are two types of amazake: koji amazake and sake lees amazake.
Koji amazake has a gentle sweetness, while sake lees amazake is refreshing with a deep richness. The way it’s made and the balance of koji and sake lees varies by region, so “amazake” can take many forms.

From here, we’ll introduce tips from Morinaga Seika on the best timing to drink it, delicious ways to enjoy it, and some exquisite arrangements.
